Prof. Gamal Mohamed Sarhan was awarded Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering from Zagazig University, Egypt, in 1983 and 1988, respectively. He was involved in a collaborative scientific research between Cairo University-Egypt and Wuppertal University-Germany for two years between 1990 and 1992. This program led to his award of a PhD degree from Cairo University in 1993.

He has a long teaching and industrial experience. Starting in 1983, immediately after graduation, he worked as a teaching assistant, where he helped teach many courses at the Faculty of Engineering in Shubra (Zagazig University). In 1989, he worked as an assistant-lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering (Banha University).

After awarding the PhD degree he worked as Lecturer and then as assistant professor at the same place. He worked for one year at Hoon High Engineering Institute in Libya from 2006 to 2007. From 2011 to 2021, he worked as an associate professor at College of Engineering at Northern Border University at Kingdom Saudi Arabia. He has also a wide industrial experience, having provided many engineering consultations in Egypt.

He had made several electrical designs during his work in Egypt and KSA including electrical installation designs and industrial control. Allah Almighty has blessed Dr. Sarhan a faithful wife, three daughters, and five grandchildren.
